PONTEDEUME 02/16/2018 05:00 AM
During the outward journey, on the plane, the six students of the second year of ESO of IES Breamo told about their expectations: «Improving our English, seeing new places, discovering the world». «Know another culture, make new friends». "A unique experience for life, we are fortunate to have these opportunities". «It’s going to be unforgettable». The stay did not disappoint them and even surpassed his predictions. IES Breamo coordinates the Erasmus + WOW project (Word Over Walls - The Value of Experience), in which take also part the Icelandic school Vogaskóli and two educational institutions of Juuka, in Finland. «Our topic is the migratory phenomenon through real protagonists, senior people who once knew emigration in the first person», as they relate in the blog asgabarras.blogaliza.org. Miguel Rodríguez Carnota is the teacher who directs this initiative. «Six students went to Iceland, eiight will go to Finland in February. Ourpartners will be here in April, the last meeting of the year will be in Pontedeume», he explains.
Apart from knowing the Icelandic educational system, "with with very different costumes and procedures from the Galician one", the kids discovered the affability of the people and the beauty of the geysers. «I had a wonderful adaptation and I’m gona cry when I have to leave», commented one of the students during the stay. They also met and interviewed the poet Elías Portela, from Cangas, who publishes in Icelandic as Elías Knörr. The author confessed that more than fame he seeks influence and that he prefers to be a muse than a poet.
